Lipoprotein(a), kurz Lp(a), ist ein eigener Risikofaktor neben LDL-Cholesterin. Beide Werte gehören zur Beurteilung des Herz-Kreislauf-Risikos; eine Meldung über Lp(a) beantwortet nicht automatisch Fragen zur LDL-Senkung.
Lepodisiran was presented at ACC.25. In the 320-participant ALPACA trial, the highest starting dose substantially lowered Lp(a): average change between days 60 and 180 was 93.9 percentage points below placebo. The main measurement was the blood marker.
On 4 September 2026, Novartis reported results for a different drug: pelacarsen. In Lp(a)HORIZON, involving 8,323 people with established cardiovascular disease, Lp(a) fell but the primary combined cardiovascular endpoint was not met.
That endpoint included cardiovascular death, heart attack, stroke and urgent coronary procedures. The preliminary sponsor announcement does not separately establish unchanged mortality or settle the question for every Lp(a)-lowering drug.
What this does not establish
The pelacarsen finding here comes from a sponsor announcement. It does not report full effect estimates or individual endpoint results.
