CHALLENGE randomly assigned 889 people after surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy for colon cancer to three years of supported exercise or health information. Participants had stage III or high-risk stage II disease.
This was a programme supported by exercise professionals over several years. Musculoskeletal adverse events were more frequent: 18.5% versus 11.5%. Support and an appropriate workload therefore matter when interpreting the result.
